Want a VOIP telephone service free?

Skype shifted the VOIP momentum with people around the world talking on the internet for free. How would you like to talk on your regular handset for free instead?  There are many VOIP based providers doing just that charge around a fifth of what your local telephone company charge. First came jajah and the one I really love is jaxtr. Tom Keating's article Jaxtr launches public beta describes many of the benefits people received during the beta period -

  • Jaxtr provides a local number for you to call your friends overseas
  • After initial setup you can make calls from your regular phone line to your friends with out using a computer
  • You can add Jaxtr's widget to your myspace blog or any web page like this.

One of the features I really love is that you can setup routing of where calls go based on who calls you. You can have your mobile phone, home line, fax line or offline line setup for any of your friends calls to go to a certain number or better yet to voicemail. Enjoy the totally free calls overseas while it is in beta. I suspect at some point the free calls will stop and the price for calls will come at par with jajah or other voip providers. The feature worth paying for with jaxtr's voip service is that you can call a local number to get to an overseas number you call often. If you use this service properly you should be able to reduce your overseas calls charges from your mobile/cell phones and from your home phone.

For Australian readers who would like to learn about VOIP for your home or office office check out skype or mynetphone. If you want a dedicated VOIP number that people can call you similar to your home line both these providers give you a stand alone solution that do not require your computer to be up and running. Jaxtr is different from others and is a unique offering. Jaxtr is run by a team of smart entrepreneurs headed by Konstantin Guericke
