Yahoo + Microsoft vs Google – What could this mean?

Gone are the good old days for Microsoft where they could just buy competitors and dominate the market. Remember how Foxpro was acquired by Microsoft and at that time FoxPro was superior to Microsoft Access. Now Foxpro doesn’t exist any more, perhaps some legacy databases exist some where, that’s it. Since the Microsoft’s anti competitive practices case, Microsoft has become near extinct with Google online domination of search and online properties, until now.

Google Oct 07 Crack Down on Paid Link Building

Google has been cracking down on paid link building and penalizing sites engaging in selling links with a PR drop. The latest PR update appears just to be a PR drop for many sites, which is bound to have some influence on search results. Here is the list of sites from seomoz

Top Traffic Generation Strategies for 2008

The year is slowly coming to a close. In another month, we are yet again, close to the wrapping up of another year.

So sitting back in my chair, I decided to make a list of all the things that we, as SEOs will be doing in the coming year. Will things change all that much from what it was in the beginning of this year?

Social Networking

Drupal Hosting Options

Web hosts are businesses that provide servers, server racks with high speed internet access for businesses that do not want to host servers on the web. Unless you plan to host your server from a high speed data center with internet access, you will need a web host. With the volume of businesses online it is cost prohibitive to host a server from your home office, relative to options at your disposal.

Does Your Website Have Good SEO And User Experience?

Designing a web page for both the search engines and your customers user experience is an art. You have included your search term in the title, file name, meta tags, and did your link building like every good website owner has done. What next? Will the search engines beat a path to your door and get you enormous amounts of traffic that will crash your server? The answer is no.

The above is just one tiny step towards achieving your business goal. First of all, sit down and write your goals. Selecting your keyword that is specific to your offering and has search volume requires thought. If you don't have time get a free keyword research done for you. What is it you are looking for? Is it leads where you just want visitors to leave their names and contact information? Or is it more lofty, like purchases completed on your site? Do you have tracking in place to know where your leads are coming from and which sources of traffic buy from your site?

As a consultant, I always tell my customers, know your goals and put this in writing. Then start measuring on which activities you do help achieve your goals. Knowing what you want to get out of your visitors will help you create a targeted ad and a relevant landing page for the customer. If you are a mortgage broker, have a form on your site where interested customers can leave their contact information. In this way, you can make follow up calls and sell your products to them.
